1. When you haven't gotten to where you are going, you are in the land between.
The whole Israelite community set out from Elim and came to the Desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai. Exodus 16: 1
2. The land between is fertile ground for complaint.
The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, "If only we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost--also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions, and garlic. But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but manna!
Numbers 11: 4-6
3. The two fruits of complaint are discord and retreat.
When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him."
Exocus 32: 1-2
4. The land between is also fertile ground for spiritual growth.
But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
Joshua 24: 15
